3.5 Groundwater

  1. As described in section 2.5.6 and Figure 16 and Figure 17, the FAW concluded that most of the larger wetlands in the subwatershed were discharge or combination discharge/recharge.  Opportunities to increase infiltration in the developed areas as well as developing areas should be explored to preserve that hydrology.  A small groundwater-dependent tamarack swamp is present as part of a larger wetland complex at the Landscape Arboretum.
  2. There numerous areas of high to moderate aquifer sensitivity area in the subwatershed. 
  3. Stormwater management should be coordinated with wellhead protection plans.
