5.6.2 Land Conservation
A key element in achieving overall ecological integrity goals in the Long Lake subwatershed is the conservation of key ecological areas, including high-value wetlands and uplands. LGUs must identify in their local water management plans the areas shown on Figure 19. The local plan must also identify strategies the LGU will undertake to protect the ecological and hydrological values of those areas. These may include such strategies as land use regulation; acquisition and management; conservation easements; ecological restoration; and property owner education regarding land management strategies to maintain ecological integrity.
