5.8.3 Classen Lake Creek Management

ProjectClassen Lake Creek Management
DescriptionInvestigate and implement stream stabilization and restoration activities to address erosion issues and improve downstream water quality.
NeedClassen Creek carries a high sediment and nutrient load to Stubbs Bay. The source of that excess load is not clear, but may be related to in-line and riparian wetlands and streambank sloughing issues. This project would investigate issues raised in the Upper Watershed Stream Assessment and Stubbs Bay Feasibility Study to determine what improvements could be made to Classen Creek to reduce pollutant loading.
OutcomeReduction in pollutant loading carried downstream to Stubbs Bay; improvement water quality and clarity; improved biotic integrity in Classen Creek.
Estimated Cost and FundingFeasibility study, geomorphic analysis, easement acquisition, design, construction, construction management, vegetation management contract. Source of funds is the District capital levy.$93,600
