Background

Minnehaha Creek Watershed District first starting working with Park Nicollet in 2004 when Park Nicollet submitted a Cynthia Krieg Watershed Stewardship Grant application for assistance with an Education Project. The hospital wanted to construction rain gardens with education signage on the Methodist Hospital property to improve the quality of stormwater runoff draining from the site into Minnehaha Creek.  For more information on the Methodist Hospital Cynthia Krieg grant projects please visit the Cynthia Krieg Projects Page. Please note Methodist Hospital applied for and received two Cynthia Kreig Watershed Stewardship Grants during 2004 for educational projects.

Given Methodist Hospital's dedication to improving Minnehaha Creek and proximity to the creek (a number of parcles around and adjacent to Minnehaha Creek), the MCWD Board of Managers directed Staff to investigate other opportunities for partnership on environmental improvements between MCWD and Methodist Hospital in the future. The staff investigation lead to the Minnehaha Creek Re-meander and Boardwalk Project.
