Lars Erdahl brings more than two decades of public sector experience to the Watershed District in program leadership, project and budget management, strategic planning, education, community relations and legislative affairs.
Before joining the MCWD he served as a Special Project Assistant to the Director and Interim Grants Officer at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. Prior to that, spent 23 years at the Minnesota Zoo, including 13 years as the Director of Education and a member of the senior management team. Among his achievements are collaborating with a variety of public and private sector partners and interdisciplinary teams to create the Wells Fargo Family Farm and Russia’s Grizzly Coast exhibits at the zoo.
Erdahl holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Minnesota, a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from the University of St. Thomas and a Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Olaf College. He has a long history of volunteer service and has served on boards for the St. David’s Center for Child & Family Development (recent past Chair), and the Minnesota Children & Nature Connection (Vice Chair). He’s also served on the Metropolitan Parks and Open Space Commission, the Minnesota Environmental Education Advisory Board, and the Citizen Advisory Committee for the Minnesota Natural Resources Trust Fund.
