Fishing is one of the best ways to enjoy the beautiful lakes and streams we have in the Twin Cities, but you’re not born knowing the skills. Join us at Lord Fletcher’s on Lake Minnetonka on Saturday, May 6 for a Kids’ Fishing Clinic, which will teach the skills needed to take part in this cherished pastime, including casting, using bait, tying knots, and identifying fish.
The clinic will be held in conjunction with Ron Schara’s Crappie Contest. It will take place from 10 a.m. to noon and is free for all to enjoy. Learn more and RSVP and www.minnehahacreek.org/50.
The event is part of “Jump In & Make a Splash!”, a series of community events across the watershed celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District. The series concludes with the Sunset Celebration on Thursday, November 2 at St. Mary’s Greek Orthodox Church in Minneapolis, featuring live music, food and drink. Tickets are $40. People who attend at least five events qualify for half-price admission and those who attend all nine events get in for free! The Kids’ Fishing Clinic is sponsored by MCWD, Ron Schara Productions and Fishing for Life in partnership with Freshwater Society, Target, 1-800-GOT-JUNK?, Berne Scale, Wilderness Inquiry and Tonka Bay Marina.
