Permit #21-515 Variance Consideration

The MCWD Board of Managers is considering Permit Application #21-515 as described below and is scheduled to take action on the permit at the October 21st Board Meeting. MCWD rules require notice to all property owners within 600’ of the proposed permitted area as a courtesy, if there are any questions or concerns.

21-515: The City of Minneapolis Surface Waters and Sewers Department has applied for a Minnehaha Creek Watershed District permit for Waterbody Crossings & Structures for the replacement of an existing sanitary sewer pipe located below the Kenilworth Channel, adjacent to the Burnham Road bridge. The sanitary sewer is proposed to be replaced since the existing sanitary sewer line is failing. The District’s Waterbody Crossings & Structures rule requires that any structures placed below a waterbody be installed at a minimum of 3’ below the bed of the waterbody. Due to infeasibility of meeting the 3’ minimum depth requirement, the applicant has requested a variance from said requirement.

If you would like to review the application materials in detail, please contact Cole Thompson at cthompson@minnehahacreek.org or 952-641-4521 to make an appointment. If you plan to attend this meeting, please call to confirm that the permit application is on the agenda or check the MCWD website at https://www.minnehahacreek.org/about/board-managers/minutes-and-agenda-packets.
