Winter Maintenance Training - Parking Lots and Sidewalks (August 20)

This Winter Parking Lot and Sidewalk Maintenance Training offers information about best practices for managing snow and ice on parking lots and sidewalks.  Through presentations and class exercises, participants will learn how to integrate science with practical winter maintenance while minimizing impacts on the environment.

  • New maintenance methods
  • De-icing and anti-icing
  • Environmental effects

Attendees will be given a Winter Maintenance for Parking lots and Sidewalks manual they can take with them.

Contractors, staff, and volunteers who maintain parking lots and sidewalks; property managers; and snowplow drivers are encouraged to attend!  Training topics include: material selection, application rates, equipment calibration, deicing & anti-icing, practical tips, new maintenance methods, and environmental effects.  An optional test is offered at the workshop to earn Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) Level 1 Certification in Snow & Ice Control Best Practices.  Certified individuals are listed on the MPCA website.  

Training is free (includes morning snacks and lunch).  Registration is required. The training is located at the Minnetonka Community Center.
