About this project: 

Between 2011 and 2012, the MCWD's Low Impact Development program helped pay for stormwater management improvements during five municipal road reconstruction projects in Wayzata, Minnetonka, Excelsior and Mound.

The projects achieved the following reductions in pollution (one pound of phosphorus can create as much as 500 pounds of algae):

Excelsior (2011)

  • 427 pounds of total suspended solids

Minnetonka (2011)

  • 1195 pounds of total suspended solids

Wayzata Blvd (2012)

  • 11.85 lb pounds of total phosphorus
  • 17840 pounds of total suspended solids

Mound (2012)

  • 60% reduction in total phosphorus
  • 19200 pounds of total suspended solids

Excelsior 3rd St Firelane (2012)

  • 1.01 pounds of total phosphorus
  • 1769 pounds of total suspended solids
