Potential for High Water
The National Weather Service (NWS) is forecasting the potential for approximately 1.4 inches of rain Wednesday evening into Thursday in the Minnehaha Creek Watershed. More than half of this is predicted to fall over a 12-hour period starting Wednesday night. This forecast is expected to increase water levels across the watershed.
Following storms earlier this month, and in accordance with the operating plan, the Minnehaha Creek Watershed District (MCWD) decreased Gray’s Bay Dam discharge to 150 cubic feet per second (cfs) on Sunday, Aug. 11. Discharge was reduced again on Aug. 14, to 100 cfs. MCWD will continue to adjust dam discharge in accordance with the operating plan, weather forecasts, and water levels across the watershed.
